About the ALPINE Study

Researchers are testing a possible treatment option, called brepocitinib, in adults diagnosed with lichen planopilaris. They are evaluating the treatment’s safety, its effects on symptoms, and how the body responds over time.

What should I expect?

1. Screening

(Up to 1 Month)

1. Screening

(Up to 1 Month)

First, you will have a screening visit to see whether you qualify. If you qualify and choose to participate, you will be in the study for a little over 1 year.

2. First Study Treatment Phase

(About 16 Weeks)

2. First Study Treatment Phase

(About 16 Weeks)

During the first phase, you will receive either the treatment option or a placebo (a look-alike tablet that does not contain active ingredients). This phase lasts about 6 months.

3. Second Study Treatment Phase

(About 32 Weeks)

3. Second Study Treatment Phase

(About 32 Weeks)

During the second phase, all participants will receive the treatment. This phase lasts about 7 months.

4. Follow-Up

(4 Weeks)

4. Follow-Up

(4 Weeks)

About 1 month after taking your last dose of the treatment, you will have a final series of medical tests.
Throughout the study, you will have regular health assessments and check-ins with the research team.
You will receive the investigational medicine or placebo and all study-related care at no cost. Participants who follow study requirements and complete study visits may be compensated and may also be reimbursed for study-related expenses, such as transportation, parking, and meals.

What is the investigational medicine?

The treatment is a tablet that is taken once a day. It is designed to decrease inflammation, which may help reduce the symptoms of lichen planopilaris. It has not yet been approved by any regulatory agency.
